Japanese Kiri Isho Tansu
Before Conservation This before treatment photo shows heavy oxidized linseed oil layers that were applied by the owner and have turned an unsightly brownish black as linseed oil is prone to do over time. Also, severe cat claw damage is visible on lower sections.
During Conservation This mid treatment photo shows the right side of Tansu with heavy oxidized linseed oil layers removed to show the bare Kiri (Paulownia) wood which is how it would have looked when new.
After Conservation After treatment photo showing all heavy oxidized linseed oil layers removed returning the Tansu to it's original appearance. Also, hundreds of severe cat claw damage areas have been filled and colored to match the existing finish.
